Private Equity (PE) refers to equity investments in a privately held company. A Private Equity fund is a professionally managed fund that invests the funds capital into a portfolio of businesses. The aim of the manager of the fund is to increase the value of the businesses the fund invests in, and thereby realise returns for investors in the fund.
