Auto Invest lets you automatically invest in managed funds according to your strategy, helping you build and maintain a diversified portfolio without needing to initiate investments manually.

You can choose how much to invest in each fund, how often to invest, and when to start. You’ll stay in control, and Auto Invest can be paused or changed at any time.

How Auto Invest works

Once your Auto Invest plan is active, funds will be allocated to your selected managed funds based on your preferences and schedule. An auto investment will only be completed if you have sufficient cash in your Wallet.

Helpful hint: We recommend setting up an automatic payment from your bank account to your Wallet 1–2 days before your Auto Invest is scheduled, to ensure you have enough funds available.

How to set up Auto Invest

1. Log in to your investor dashboard

Go to Snowball and log in to your account.

2. Go to the Auto Invest section

Click on Funds in the top navigation, then select the ‘Auto Invest’ tab, or go directly to the Auto Invest section here.

3. Configure your Auto Invest preferences

In this section, you’ll be asked to complete the following:

  • Start date: Select when your Auto Invest plan should begin.

  • Frequency: Choose how often you'd like Auto Invest to run (e.g., weekly, fortnightly, or monthly).

  • Investment amounts: Under Select Investments, enter how much (in NZD) you want to invest in each available fund. The minimum is $100 per fund.

Important Note: Some funds listed in Auto Invest are Wholesale Funds, meaning only investors who meet the wholesale investor criteria can allocate funds to them. If you are not a wholesale investor, you will only be able to Auto Invest into funds that are open to retail investors.

4. Click ‘Create Auto Invest Plan’

Once your preferences are set, click Create Auto Invest Plan at the bottom of the page to activate your plan.

Frequent Questions

1. What happens if I don’t have enough funds in my Wallet?

If your available balance is too low when your Auto Invest plan is scheduled to run, the system will automatically retry up to three times on consecutive business days.

  • If sufficient funds are available during any of these attempts, the investment will proceed.

  • If three attempts are unsuccessfully made, then your Auto Invest will reactivate on your next scheduled Auto Invest date. If you no longer want to continue with your Auto Invest, you can turn off your Auto Invest plan.

2. Can I change my Auto Invest allocations later?

Yes, you can update your amounts, timing, or selected funds at any time by revisiting the Auto Invest section and editing your plan by clicking the ‘Edit Auto Invest’ button at the bottom of the page.
